The Waykar PD160B is a dehumidifier intended for medium-sized rooms. It has an advertised 8.5-pint capacity, support for continuous drainage, and a built-in humidistat that allows it to operate as needed to maintain the target humidity.

Our Verdict

N/A Basement

The Waykar PD160B is okay for use in basements. Its capacity is a little too low for larger open-concept basements, and this model is better suited to small and medium-sized dens. It, thankfully, can be configured for continuous drainage, which is great if you want to leave it running for extended periods. That said, it lacks a drain pump, which is a little annoying if you plan to drain the device into a sink or any other elevated container.

Pros
  • Low operating noise.
  • Can be configured to drain continuously.
Cons
  • No drainage pump.
  • Mediocre dehumidification capacity.
N/A Bathroom

The Waykar PD160B is a decent choice for use in bathrooms. It's fairly compact, so squeezing it into a smaller bathroom is pretty easy. Its dehumidification capacity is sufficient for small to medium-sized bathrooms, though it might struggle a little in big bathrooms. It has a 2.5L water tank, a reasonable size for something this compact, and you can drain it continuously. While it does come with a drain hose, it lacks a built-in pump that would allow it to drain water into an elevated vessel or sink.

Pros
  • Relatively compact size.
  • Can be configured to drain continuously.
Cons
  • No drainage pump.
  • Mediocre dehumidification capacity.
N/A Large Room

The Waykar PD160B performs satisfactorily in large rooms. It has a somewhat low dehumidification capacity and can't generate that much air movement in especially large, open spaces, but it does run pretty quietly, which is great if you use it while watching TV or hosting guests.

Pros
  • Low operating noise.
Cons
  • Mediocre dehumidification capacity.
N/A Bedroom

The Waykar PD160B is a good option for bedrooms. It runs quietly and doesn't impact the ambient temperature of a room much while running, which is great if you live in an already hot environment. It can also maintain a pretty low airflow, so it won't be too disruptive if you have it placed nearby while trying to sleep. In terms of raw dehumidification performance, it's best suited for smaller and medium-sized spaces.

Pros
  • Doesn't output much heat.
  • Relatively compact size.
  • Low operating noise.
Cons
  • Mediocre dehumidification capacity.
N/A Capacity

The Waykar PD160B has a mediocre overall capacity, which isn't surprising considering its size. It's really best suited for use in small and medium-sized rooms.

Pros
Cons
  • Mediocre dehumidification capacity.
N/A Noise

The Waykar PD160B doesn't make much noise. It won't be too distracting if you have company over or are running it while watching TV, as long as you keep it at a lower fan speed.

Pros
  • Low operating noise.
Cons
N/A Temperature Stability

The Waykar PD160B does a great job of maintaining a stable temperature. You can leave it to run for hours without generating substantial heat, making it a good fit in smaller rooms.

Pros
  • Doesn't output much heat.
Cons
  • N/A Basement
  • N/A Bathroom
  • N/A Large Room
  • N/A Bedroom

Compared To Other Dehumidifiers

The Waykar PD160B is an 8.5-pint dehumidifier intended for smaller areas, like tighter bedrooms, bathrooms, or living rooms. Its low operating noise and minimal heat output make it a good option for light sleepers, but the similarly sized AGLucky OL12D-D023B is even quieter and more compact.

This dehumidifier has decent overall airflow performance. Its range of fan speed options is limited, which can be a boon or a liability, depending on where you set it up. Its airflow is quite low at its highest fan speed, and it'll struggle to generate enough air movement to dehumidify larger open spaces effectively. On the upside, its lowest fan speed produces very low airflow, which can be helpful if you have the device nearby while trying to sleep.
